MOMs Project

In April 2026, we are collaborating with Tangata Moana Hui Foundation to work with Molokai mothers to identify the key contributing factors for healthy pregnancies and births. This research project will result in a report to the State Department of Health as well as an advocacy tool to inform program planners to support Molokai 'ohana in the best way possible through services and policy.

Birth Practitioner Convening

The loea of this hālau join other birth practitioners from across the pae'āina twice a year to share strategies, skills, resources, techniques and to collaborate on finding solutions to common challenges. Molokai is hosting the convening in April 2026.

Mauli ʻAwa Projects

Hoʻolewa

Hoʻolewa works to provide access to resources that encourage environmental stewardship and increased Hawaiian cultural integration in death care and empowers individuals, families, and communities to exercise their agency in the death care space. Ho'olewa also works with the current healthcare and mortuary industries to provide more kanaka-friendly options, and develops local sources of affordable goods and services of the highest quality that satisfy the community’s death care needs.

I Ola Ke Kulāiwi

I Ola Ke Kulāiwi is the work to repatriate iwi kupuna removed from Molokai and returning them to original burial sites safely. We also support 'ohana to secure iwi kupuna and burial sites that are at risk, facilitate kūkā between 'ohana and organizations, and conduct protocols and ceremonies to make pono again.

ʻAha Iwi

Waipilihoa provides support for 'ohana seeking a more traditional method in transitioning their kupapa'u to iwi for kanu.
